Fresh Packed Tie Guan Yin Tea Bags

Our premium organic Gyokuro is shade-grown Japanese green tea containing high levels of umami.

They’re also higher in amino acids, most notably L-theanine, which accounts for the perfectly smooth, rich and soft buttery flavor.

Fresh Packed. Premium Gyokuro.

Loose Leaf, Organic, Gyokuro.

Our premium organic Gyokuro is shade-grown Japanese green tea containing high levels of umami. The sun-deprived leaves are higher in chlorophyll, which explains their vivid green color.

They’re also higher in amino acids, most notably L-theanine, which accounts for the perfectly smooth, rich and soft buttery flavor.

How to Brew

To enjoy gyokuro to the fullest, the temperature of the water is very important. If the water is lukewarm, about 125°, the theanine, which is the umami flavor is drawn out. If the water is too hot, the catechins will be drawn out, resulting in bitterness. We recommend brewing the first steep at 125°. The second brew at 140°, and then the third steep at around 165°

Water Temp
125° - 165°

This tea is outstanding. I haven’t had a tea like this since I visited family abroad in Japan.

If you want to setup up your green tea game, this Gyokuro may be great for you!

  3. Dawn W.

A very nice daily drinking gyokuro. When brewed correctly (135F, 200ml, 8-10g tea, no more than 60 seconds) it’s a perfect balance of sweetness, umami, vegetal, grass, and seaweed flavors. Everything you want from a well crafted shade grown tea. None of that poor quality tea passed of as refined. This stuff is good, rich, and honest Japanese green tea. And organic too!!
